In 1977 my Dad, Larry Galbreath, came home one day, not to long after the birth of his 3rd child, and proudly explained to his wife that he had quit his job in retail sales and he was going to start a fence company. I remember my mother saying “What are you doing? You don’t know the first thing about fence, let alone running your own company.” Even in the face of uncertainty, Penn Fencing Inc. was founded on a “can do” attitude. That attitude has contributed to our success for over 30 years. I recently assumed the firm’s operation from my father but our business values remain the values that have made Penn Fencing a great company:
- Treat our customers as we would like to be treated
- Provide all customers with the best products and the best service
- Provide superior installation at competitive prices
- Provide our coworkers with a healthy work environment and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
In the early years of the fence business we installed chain link, wood, and farm fencing. We still install these products but we now have many others, which we inventory and install. Many new products have been introduced to the industry over the years. Some have performed well; others have not and are no longer used. In 1988 we installed our first vinyl job. It still stands today, 25 years later, protecting that same swimming pool from unwanted guests.
Penn Fencing continuously improves each year as the industry introduces new product designs and technologies. For example, In 1996 we purchased a computerized routing system for vinyl fence so we could reduce turnaround time for our customers and custom fabricate products to their specifications. This also changed the way we are able to handle last minute job changes. Rather than having to reorder sections for a job, we are now able to adapt quickly to the job requirements and fabricate precisely what we need.
Another example was our launch on the Internet in 2001 giving customers the most convenient access to our products available at the time. This year we have released a new generation of internet shopping which we hope will make your experience with us even better.
We are a member and have been recognized by the AFA (American Fence Association) for having a Certified Fence Professional (CFP) on our staff. This designation is applied only to someone who has completed several levels of technical competencies and must be renewed every 3 years to assure that the individual meets the minimum service and continued education requirements to the industry set forth by the AFA. There are only 5 people in the state of Pennsylvania that meet and maintain this distinction. You have access to one of them here at Penn Fencing.
Tom Czwalga and Penn Fencing Inc. were integral in the formation of the Western PA / West Virginia Chapter of the AFA. Tom is the sales manager for Penn Fencing Inc. and was elected President of the newly formed chapter by a party of his locally competing peers. He has served our industry for 2 years in that role and can now, if he so chooses hold positions with the AFA at the national level.
Several people from Penn Fencing Inc. are working directly with the AFA in one of their departments called the VFDRMA (VINYL FENCE DECK and RAILING MANUFACTURES ASSOCIATION). We are in the process of developing standards specifications for proper vinyl fence installation. The AFA sought out people with enough experience in the industry, and they had to have a solid reputation for quality products and installations to sit on this board and help with this very important project. These specifications when they are done will be the standard that everyone in the fence business should follow to assure proper installation. Are you dealing with a contractor or website that has this kind of influence and information available to you to make sure your project is properly installed and quality materials are being used?
Fence, Deck and Railing Products
We proudly produce and sell in the USA. We sell over the counter, to independent contractors and over the internet to all 50 states. If you already have an installer or want to do it yourself, our dedicated, full time design team will assist you with the material and knowledge to get the project installed correctly. When you call during regular business hours (E.S.T.), we will answer the phone with no endless phone system to lose or drop you like the big box stores. If you do leave a message or an email we will get back to you at our first opportunity. Orders are completed and acknowledged as soon as possible. Penn Fencing maintains the most extensive inventory of vinyl, wrought iron, ornamental aluminum and wood fencing and railing and vinyl decking to quickly provide what you need. If you can't pick up your order at our facility, we will keep you informed about when you can expect to receive your shipment.
We maintain three locations: Butler PA, Indiana Pa, and Seneca PA, with the hope of best serving our customers in Western Pennsylvania. These three locations set us above our competition in the Western PA marketplace. We install both residential and commercial fencing, decking and railing, and we only install products that we feel will meet the demands of Western Pa’s climate and terrain. Over 30 years experience in the industry qualifies us to determine which products will stand the test of time. We also have about 14 installation teams so we can get your project in on time. Many of our installers have attended the AFA’s field training school which teaches proper and exacting installation techniques.
